Also called the Boston fern, it's an evergreen perennial. It's a beautiful decorative fern with cascading, divided, wavy fronds. In the most sought-after forms, each leaflet is split into several segments, giving the plants a feathery look. It has an underground rhizome whose visible upper part forms a short, thick stem.
 
 
It grows all year round if kept at a constant warmth. It can also live a very long time if grown in good conditions. It is native to Africa, the Americas, the Caribbean and Polynesia.
