NATURE AS THE ART OF LIVING

MESSENGERS OF NATURE
Sarah created Or Végétal to delight and enchant her customers. She has an unshakable confidence in her artisan florists' ability to infuse creativity, positivity, color and life. Between their fingers, as if by magic, are born the softest, most secret, most beautiful stories gleaned over the seasons.
We work with flowers and plants because they speak to us. Our customers need them because they speak on their behalf. We tell their stories, like messengers of nature on a dreamlike poetic adventure.

Since you are being told
That the Flowers speak,
Listen no more to gigolos
Follow instead the Bees
The Butterflies, the Ladybirds
Lilacs are unfaithful
Far more than the artichokes
Thistles and the mignonette
Follow then the tender wisteria
Like the breast of a small bird
Clear-sighted heart, sincere flower
As fragile as a fallen tear
But after the flowers of the earth
Accept all the flowers of heaven,
That sing by day and dream by night

INTERVIEW WITH SARAH
Behind every bouquet… Sarah's aspirations and know-how combine to offer fresh plants and flowers, composed with love and passion.

Q: "Hello Sarah! When you walk into your Or Végétal shop, you're struck by the poetry it gives off. What recent moment made you say: ‘This is why I do this job'?" A: (Her eyes light up) "Oh, it was a few weeks ago… A customer came in silently, with tears in her eyes. She wanted a bouquet for her mother's birthday; her mother had passed away last year. She described her childhood garden to me: peonies, delphiniums, a touch of rosemary… When I handed her the bouquet, she whispered: ‘It's her.' In that moment, I knew that flowers aren't just petals, but carriers of the soul."

Q: "Your love for plants and flowers seems deep… Where does this connection with Nature come from?" A: "(She strokes an anthurium) My grandfather was a gardener. As a child, I spent my summers running through his fields near Pau, my hands full of soil. One day, he told me: ‘Look how a fragile flower breaks through concrete. It teaches us how to live.' (She smiles) I don't think I've ever stopped digging in the soil since.

Q: "You favor local, seasonal flowers through short supply chains to guarantee their freshness. Why hold yourself to such a demanding choice?" A: " Because a local flower is a story of here and now. A tulip grown in a greenhouse in December doesn't have the same scent as a Pyrenees tulip that has danced with the spring. (She comes alive in front of a bouquet of tulips) And working with the growers of the Béarn… It's a chain of passionate people! Every morning, when I receive their camellias or ranunculus, it's like opening a love letter from the region."

Q: "With all the stories you tell through your plants and flowers, do you have an anecdote that sums up your daily life as a florist?" A: "(She hesitates, moved) One rainy morning, a man came in, shy. He wanted ‘the flower that says I love you without saying it.' I created a bouquet for him with anemones (for sincerity), forget-me-nots (also called ‘Forget Me Not') and a single rose… a wild one. Three months later, they came back together to bring me seeds from their garden. (She wipes away a tear) That's my reward."

Q: "After all these years of passion and adventures, what is your dream for Or Végétal?" A: "(She looks out the window) That one day, everyone who walks in here leaves feeling that they are part of nature. And… (she blinks, mischievous) to create an ephemeral garden, even a giant greenhouse, on Place Clémenceau in Pau, where people could pick their own flowers. For free. Just for the joy of sharing."
